In 1994, having only been in business a little over a year, many of the world's top bicycle racers started to request custom DeFeet socks. Tony Rominger was an initial contact with the Mapei team. Mapei and Quickstep joined forces, and eventually became simply 'Quickstep'. Rominger had success winning three Vuelta a Espagna's (a record) and setting the World Hour Record. Johan Museeuw took over as the teams headline rider. Museeuw carried DeFeet to it's first World Championship in 1996 in Switzerland. The 'Lion of Flanders' reeked havoc on the pro peleton every Spring, winning several Paris-Roubaix's and Tour of Flanders. Before the year 2000, DeFeet had already accumulated a massive number of victories in the biggest races.
The Quickstep/DeFeet partnership continues today - the Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini period. One of the most decisive one-two punch's in the history of the sport, those two riders have won the last three World Road Racing Championship's in a row. Quickstep's Stijn Devolder just added yet another Tour of Flander's title to DeFeet's storied history in the sport. Quickstep uses many DeFeet products. Aireator socks, Armskins and Duragloves, to name a few.
Many non-cyclists wear DeFeet socks because they feel better and last longer than anything else on the market. That's fine with us. Ironically, thanks in part to Quickstep, their socks carry a pedigree that may never be equalled, again.
