Custom Orders Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: I'm interested in ordering DeFeet custom socks. How do I start? A: DeFeet has now made it easy for you to choose your colors and submit your custom order online when you go to: Other socks and apparel will follow. Q: Is there a minimum order? A: For our AirEator, AirEator HighTop, SpeeDe, Cush, WoolEator, Woolie Boolie and Blaze the minimum is 12 dozen. Ski socks have a 6-dozen minimum, Armskins have a 5-dozen minimum and Slipstream shoe covers have a 6 dozen minimum. Q: Will I receive a sample first before you start production? Is there a setup or art fee involved? A: Yes. Most of our customers approve off of the digital mock up but we do run a sample before production ever begins. We can scan or send that sample to you before we start production if you wish. A $25 art fee is required before we start to knit up the physical sample. Q: Do you do computer mock ups? My logo is very complicated and I'm not sure how it will translate onto a knitted sock? A: Yes. If we receive a logo that needs to be altered, we will process a computer generated sample with the modified artwork that we receive from DeFeet's art department and email it back to you for your approval. Q: What types of payment does DeFeet accept? A: DeFeet accepts Visa, MasterCard, or check. If you are a DeFeet retailer on terms then you will be invoiced. Q: I'm paying with a credit card. Will I be charged the entire amount before you start on my order? A: No. However, 50% will be charged on your credit card before we start production. The remaining balance will be charged upon shipment. Q: I ordered 144 pairs of socks (12 dozen) from DeFeet in the past but I was only charged for and shipped 142 pairs. What's that about? A: DeFeet has a 5% over/under policy because not all socks will pass quality control. We only ship 1st quality product, so some orders will have a discrepancy in certain sizes. We will only charge you for the product we ship. Q: When can I expect my order to be completed? A: Normal turnaround is 4 weeks upon approval of artwork. Production times do vary and may be more or less than 4 weeks, depending on capacity. Contact your custom representative at 800.688.3067 or by email at customorders@defeet.com for your specific time line. Q: Do I have to pay extra if I want more colors? A: No, DeFeet has a set price for the sock you want to order for your custom sock. Go crazy with color or keep it simple... you pay the same. Q: How many colors can I use in my logo? A: Depending where your colors are located on a sock you can have up to 6 colors but your custom representative will let you know what we can do once we start on the artwork. Q: On my order, how many sizes do you offer? A: DeFeet offers 4 sizes: SM, MD, LG, and XL. You don't have to order all 4 sizes, but there is a 1-dozen minimum per size for the sizes you do order. We only offer two sizes for Slipstream shoe covers and Armskins arm warmers (SM/MD and LG/XL). DeFeet Sizing Chart
Q: What format do I need to send my logo? A: We prefer the highest quality (.ai, .eps, .jpg, .pdf) but we will accept anything. Whatever you have we'll make it work, if it's on a bar napkin and that's all you have then send it in! Q: Can I choose the cuff height on my custom socks? A: Yes, We offer heights from 1 inch to 5 inches. Q: 12 dozen is a lot of socks! Does DeFeet offer any other program for limited quantities? A: Yes. Sublimation is your answer! The sky is the limit (well, almost) with design and the minimum is only 1 dozen. Contact your custom representative at 800.688.3067 x216 or by email at customorders@defeet.com for pricing information. Download our Sublimation Info PDF. Q: What is D-Team and what is the minimum? A: D-Team is a program we started a few years ago for clubs and schools that don't have enough members to meet our 12 dozen minimum. With D-Team, it’s only a 6-dozen minimum, in either AirEator or SpeeDe, and you pick the colors to go along with our D logo to make it a semi-custom sock. Q: What makes DeFeet custom better then the rest? A: There was a time when DeFeet only made custom products. Custom is where we began. Your logo and colors are not merely applied to existing products; your order is taken and crafted completely in-house from the finest raw materials available. We have a custom department staffed with artists who help with your order from concept to manufacture. Professionals with decades of experience knit your order. Yours will be exact replicas of products with a rich heritage of more than 12 years of athletic accomplishment, no different than the winners of events like the Tour de France and World Cup Ski races. DeFeet manufactures all of our custom products in house so we control our strict quality guidelines. We don't outsource any DeFeet knit product. Independent laboratory tests have now confirmed DeFeet makes the most durable sock by a wide margin: The DeFeet Aireator lasted 3009 cycles before failing. Our closest competitor lasted only 826. Amazingly, the DeFeet CUSH went for a NEW RECORD three days and 57,986 cycles! That is more than THREE days on a testing machine that had never seen a sock last more than a day. "The first orders ever taken at DeFeet were for custom products. Custom is where we began." The Custom Shop TeamDeFeet Custom Shop products stand alone. They are unique because you make them that way. They have quality and value that is second-to-none because we make them that way. It starts with our people. Our artists hold some of the most esteemed degrees available in textile design. They understand how to turn your designs into knitted, performance products. They work as the link between you and our custom knitting department. Our knitting team is comprised of professionals who look at knitting as an artform. For them, the environment at DeFeet is both the most demanding and the most rewarding they have been involved with. Demanding because of the high standard of craftsmanship we require. Rewarding because of the pride we take in our finished products and the people that use them. "Combined, the result is a standard of fit, form and function that is simply unequalled." DistinctionThere are many differences between DeFeet products and those made by others. Some are visible to the eye and hand, and still more are not as easy to see or feel.
