TdF Stage 3 Recap

Fred Rodriguez was the last to cross the finish, yesterday, clutching his arm after the crash. He's wearing the DeFeet UnD Lite base layer - an ideal piece to have under a jersey in the event of a crash because it lets the jersey slide and protects skin extremely well. So, DeFeet products were first and last, yesterday. That's fitting, because we always respect both. Peace.

Phoo'wee what a finale, today. The best of the Tour, so far. Before I go there, I will add that the attack by Auge and Willems was extremely well timed and decisive. That's the way to get away - exit a peleton that is in different state of mind. The gap was made immediately, there were two riders ahead that they were able to join, and the recipe was made. Why do breakaways always futz around too much at the end? Willems messed with the group too much. Without that, they would have made it! Well, maybe without the cat & mousing around, too.

The power of Cancellara so far has been other-worldly. There was a lot for the eyes to take in, today. In the final kilometer, you had four riders falling back, one rider in between, and the field sprint development. This was a great lesson in how to win. Cancellara completely committed to his move. He went directly past the four breakaway without ever looking at anyone. I don't think he ever looked back. He freakin' steamrolled the thing. It was a bitchin move, and it made for a much better race than a pure sprint would have done. Anything but a plain sprint. To me, they can be anticlimactic. Anyone out there that doesn't always win in a sprint? Do that same move! Test it on your buddies before the city limits sign. It's way more fun than sitting there and waiting to be slain. That was a pure textbook final K launch. You might never see it done better.
