Saul Raisin - Driven Sole.

Becoming a professional athlete, in any sport - ok, almost any - is no simple task. It's a compilation of millions of difficult tasks performed over the course of years. Saul Raisin is an American cyclist on the French Credit Agricole cycling team. Saul accomplished one the hardest 'compilations' in cycling, making it where he has. He competes at the highest level of the sport.

In early April 2006, Saul crashed hard with less than 2k to go in a stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe. He hit his head hard, and suffered a cerebral edema while in the hospital. Saul went into a coma. His future, which had looked so bright, became questionable on the most basic functions.

Today, Saul has a lot going on. He is preparing to return to racing, and his comeback story is being captured in a new book: My Journey from Darkness Back to Light.

DeFeet makes the 'Raisin Hell' sock for Saul. When a pair is purchased, proceeds go to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.

Another reason we love Saul: his creativity. Here he is, using the DeFeet Ski-D sock with knee warmers. Saul has made a whole new look - a really cool one we'll add - for cold weather cycling.
